Day 1: Ubon Ratchathani – Wat Phou – Don Khone (Meals: N/A)
This morning you will catch your short in-country flight to Ubon Ratchathani (recommended flight: TG2020 @ 07.30 – 08.35AM) where a guide and drive of Laos Tours Expert will welcome you and continue the trip to UNESCO world Heritage Site, Wat Phou a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple.  Crossing the Mekong River by ferry and visiting the fascinating pre-Angkorian ruins of Wat Phou that are located near to the town and are one of South-East Asia’s most dramatically situated temple sites with superb views across the Mekong River.
Return to Champassak, driving through streets lined with French colonial buildings.
After lunch, a short stop at Ban Nong Bune will give you the opportunity to observe wood carvers at work before continuing to Ban Kiet Ngong a small Lao village where you will embark on a 90 minute elephant ride through the forest up to Mount Asa. Ride through the Xe Pian Protected Area whose wetlands and forest offer a biodiversal ecosystem. This tour program was developed to provide the local villagers with a sustainable tourism project from which they can profit. Continue on to Khong Island, the biggest island in south Laos and the start of the 4000 Islands Region.

Day 2: Don Khone – Liphi Waterfall – Don Det – Don Khone (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast we take a leisurely bicycle ride to the old French wharf before cycling along the old French railway line to the stunning Liphi waterfall. We return for lunch at Seng Aloun riverside restaurant where we enjoy some delicious food amongst some beautiful surroundings. In the mid afternoon after our lunch and taking some time to relax we cycle to Don Det taking in the various sights along the way, from Don Det we take a boat back to Don Khone which is where we shall spend the night.

Day 3: Don Khone – Nakasang – Veunkham – Khone Pha Pheng Waterfall – Pakse (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
This morning we take a short 25 minute boat ride to Nakasang and continue a drive to Veunkham where we board a boat for the one hour journey to an area where Irrawaddy dolphins can be spotted! We spend around two hours here watching for the dolphins before heading back to the town of Veunkham. Arriving back to shore we take a 40 minute drive to the Lao/Cambodian border to visit Khone Pheng waterfall which is the largest in the whole of South East Asia. We enjoy lunch here at the waterfall whilst taking in the stunning views of the fall, after this we begin our return to Pakse.

Day 4: Pakse – Ethnic Village – Xing Sai Limestones – Champi Waterfall – Ban Lak (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Today we drive for around 50 Minutes to the starting point of our trip at a small ethnic village. Upon arrival in the village we take some time to explore the village before heading off trekking through the Bolaven Plateau which is home to many tea and coffee plantations. We continue onwards until arriving at the amazing rock formations of Xing Sai Limestones, here we spend some time before continuing onwards to the towering Champi waterfall where we enjoy our picnic lunch.
At the waterfall we will take some time to swim and relax amongst the beautiful surroundings. After our lunch we continue on trekking through the dense forest for around three hours until arriving at the village of Ban Lak 38 which is where we shall spend the night with a local family in their home, a truly amazing experience of it’s own.

Day 5: Ban Lak 38 – Tad Fan Water fall – Tad Yeung Waterfall – Pakse (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
After a local type breakfast complimented by local Lao coffee from the Plateau we begin by walking through coffee farms, along the way we will see workers as they pick the coffee beans. As we continue onwards we enter the forest and keep on trekking until arriving at the stunning Tad Fan waterfall which is where we shall enjoy lunch and take some time to relax. After our lunch, we trek up to the top of the waterfall to see the amazing views, after which continue onwards trekking through the forest and taking in the beautiful scenery until arriving at Tad Yeung waterfall. Here at Tad Yeung waterfall we spend a while to relax and swim etc. Return back to Pakse in the afternoon.

Day 6: Pakse – Savannakhet – Thakek (Meals: Breakfast)
This morning, we are back on the road heading north to Thakek. En route we stop to visit the town of Savannkhet- is famous for its French Colonial buildings and also the sacred stupa of That Inhang. We have ample time to explore the town before reaching Pakse in the early evening. Stay overnight in Thakek.

Day 7: Thakek – Buddha Park – Thakek (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
We depart Thakek by Tuk-tuk, and follow the old French railway track that was destined for Vietnam but was never finished. Continuing through impressive scenery, you arrive at the village of Ban Nakhang Xang and meet the village guides who will escort you on your trek. Passing through secondary forest, your guide will point out forest products that form an important part of local people’s food resources. Going through a cave, you enter a striking valley with towering cliffs and forest. The trail follows the shoreline of Nong Thao Lake where you can see local fishermen at work. On arrival at Tham Nong Paseum cave, more adventurous swimmers can explore the cave. The cave is 400 metres long and contains dramatic stalactites and stalagmites. Back in daylight, the trip continues onto Khammouane’s famous Buddha cave for a traditional Lao lunch of Mekong fish, sticky rice and spicy papaya salad. After lunch, we visit Tham Pa Fa or Buddha cave which was rediscovered in April 2004. The cave contains 229 bronze Buddhas that are said to be over 300 years old. If time permits, you will also be able to travel by local canoe into the water cave below. Your guide will now escort you back to the village following a different route through the forest, and you will return to Thakek in the late afternoon. Stay overnight in Thakek.

Day 8: Thakek – Naphouak – Sala Hin Boun (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Following breakfast, we set off by road to Naphouak, before heading south by boat through some of the most spectacular gorges found in Southeast Asia. Along the way, we make a stop for lunch and a picturesque Lao Loum village, and then we are picked up by car and transferred to Sala Hinboun in the late afternoon. Stay overnight in Sala Hinboun.

Day 9: Sala Hin Boun – Kong Lor Cave (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast at Sala Hin Boun, we continue by boat upriver to Kong Lor village before boarding a smaller boat into the famous Kong Lor Cave. We navigate through the cave which is over 7km long and includes a spectacular cavern over 100m high. We’ll have lunch in a remote village on the other side of the cave. We return to Sala Hin Boun before sunset. Stay overnight at Sala Hin Boun.

Day 10: Sala Hin Boun – Ban Naphouak – Khoun Kham – Prabaht Ponsan – Vientiane (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
You will be picked up from your hotel, and travel north along route 13. We eventually reach to Ban Naphouak where we board a local boat on the Hin Boun River. The journey downstream takes us past some stunning limestone karst scenery as well as a number of villages with smiling waving children. Following the lunch, we continue onwards into Khammoune province and into the mountainous area where a stop at a view point near Khoun Kham offers a breathtaking view over the surrounding area.
Continue a drive to Vientiane in the afternoon. En route we stop at Prabaht Ponsan- an Manoluck LPQ stupa dating back to the 15th Century. It is also home to the Manoluck LPQ Budhhas footprint, was discovered in 1933, and now it is an important religious site in Laos. You will arrive Vientiane in the late afternoon. End of tour.
From Vientiane you can decide to fly out of the country or continue the trip to the North of Laos that would make your complete journey throughout the country.
